Spain forward Ferran Torres made only one goal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and it was the one that truly mattered. In a nail-biter final, Spain and Argentina were forced into extra time, and in the 106th minute, Torres — a second-half substitute — scored the winning goal that decided the match and denied Argentina a second consecutive title.
“It was the biggest moment in my life so far,” Torres says. “It was amazing, and how people reacted even if they were not from our country, it surprised me.”
Torres is nicknamed “El Tiburón,” Spanish for shark, for his mental resilience and discipline. In between games for FC Barcelona, Torres focuses on short and intense workouts that target a little bit of everything. He also makes sure to carve out time for leg day once or twice a week along with running for cardio. As important as exercise is his recovery — Torres says he prioritizes eight to nine hours of sleep and regular time in the sauna.
Fresh off his win, Torres spoke with Men’s Health about the workout that helped him develop the core and lower body strength needed to face off against Lionel Messi and give La Roja their second World Cup title. He also discusses diet, his guilty pleasure sweet treat, and the meaning behind a special tattoo on his back.
